MORETONHAMPSTEAD

Usually known to us Devonians as ‘Moreton’, this is an old market town on the eastern edge of the moor where the old road from Tavistock to Exeter crosses what was the main link between Bideford in the north and the River Teign in the south. Few would describe the town as beautiful although there are one or two buildings of note. However, whatever it lacks in looks it makes up in being one in which there is a wonderful sense of community where festivals of all sorts are held. These photographs were taken during the recent flag festival. It was sad that the sun decided not to shine while I was there.
